The Bird Cage Theater - Wickedest Nightclub In America

A short history and description of the Bird Cage Theater in Tombstone, Az. The Birdcage Theater, the Wickedest Night Club in America is now a museum.

The New York Times called it

"The Wildest, Roughest, Wickedest Honky Tonk Between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast"

Near one end of Allen Street in Tombstone, Arizona, you will find the famous Bird Cage Theater. In the 1880's it was a theater, saloon, gambling house, and brothel. The Bird Cage Theater was open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, never closing---not even for holidays.....

Native American Jewelry & Turquoise

The Navaho believe turquoise is a piece of the sky which has fallen to earth.

The Apache think it combines the spirits of the sea and sky to help warriors and hunters aim accurately.

The Zuni beleve that turquoise protects them from demons, while the Aztecs reserved turquoise for the gods and was not to be worn by mere mortals.

Sterling Silver jewelry personifies the individualistic approach to style. It can be casual and comfortable and, at the same time, elegant and timeless. Silver’s pure white color is flattering to all skin tones. And reflects light better than any other metal, throwing a pleasant glow onto the wearer’s complexion.

Native American Jewelry

Native American tribes in New York (the Seneca, Iroquois, Cayuga and the Onondaga) began turning European Silver coins into Native American Jewelry at the beginning of the 17th century.

It is said that the western tribes were introduced to silver in the 1800's, when travelers asked that silver coins be used to make items of jewelry.   The most popular Native American Jewelry today features Silver and Turquoise.

One of my favorite places to shop for Native American Jewelry is Bearlanders Trading Co. Merchandise is shipped with a "Spiritual Meaning" card and/or a "Certificate of authenticity".
